January 30 Paintings in 30 Days

What a strange month! It passed by too quickly. It seemed like even before I got into the groove of painting a painting everyday, the month was over! Or in other words, it just didn’t feel like I painted 30, actually 29 paintings this month! I think partly because I mixed it up. Figure drawing once a week and figure painting session once a week. That took care of 7 paintings there. Then I did a lot of quick plein air landscape studies, which have double benefits! I paint a painting and then I go on a run wherever I was painting. Just recently did some still lives, which I love but they take time and I feel like I worked for them, but I only did a few of them. Big reason being that we had such a gorgeous and warm January! And I just wanted to be out of the house painting the lovely mountains and the air!

Funny though, the winter is here today. And you’ll be seeing a lot more still lives now, I am sure 😀

Here is a collage of all the artwork I did this month. Enjoy!

Srishti great works, that is such a challenge. I chickened out on it, thank you for the invitation though. Someday I will have the confidence/discipline. I have been doing value studies building a stronger foundation for my art. I was curious though, where are you doing the life drawings class? That is something I have also been interested in. It’s great to see you producing SO MUCH work.

Dane, So good to hear from you! It’s been a while since we have bumped into each other besides waving while passing by in our cars. And I have been too busy this last month to take time for anything. Good to know that you are practicing your values.
I wanted to mention it to you but didn’t get around to it, but I have been doing (uninstructed) life drawing/painting at an artist’s studio twice a week. It’s the best thing ever and would love it if you could join too. It’s drawing on Saturday mornings 9-12, where we do 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 minute poses. And then on Mondays (9-12) we do a long detailed drawing or painting. The model holds the same post for 3 Mondays in a row.
Email me if you are interested…
